Red blood cell pattern

Red blood cells, also known as erythrocytes, are microscopic, round cells found in our bloodstream that are responsible for transporting oxygen to our tissues and carrying carbon dioxide away. Red blood cells have a unique shape and are shaped like a flattened disk or doughnut, with a small indentation in the centre. They are made in our bone marrow and travel around our bodies to help us process oxygen. Red blood cells contain a protein called haemoglobin, which is responsible for attaching to oxygen and carrying it around the body. Haemoglobin gives red blood cells their signature bright red colour.

Red blood cells have an average lifespan of 120 days and are constantly being replaced. They pick up oxygen from the lungs and transport it to the rest of the body, where the oxygen is used to produce energy. Red blood cells then take the carbon dioxide waste to the lungs for us to exhale. The number of red blood cells in the body can vary, and a low or high red blood cell count can cause various medical conditions. In order to maintain healthy red blood cells, it is important to maintain a healthy diet full of vitamins and minerals, and to avoid smoking. Red blood cells are vital for keeping us alive and healthy, and it is important to take care of them.
