WHITE BLOOD CELLS PATTERN
Leukocytes, as white blood cells are also known, only make up 1% of the blood in your body, but they are a crucial part of the immune system that protects you from diseases, parasites and other pathogens.
White blood cells are produced in the bone marrow, just like red blood cells, but instead of all flowing around in the blood stream, most of them are stored in the thymus, spleen, bone marrow and lymph nodes until they are needed.
The white blood cells are the small but almighty warriors of our immune system, that make up only a fraction of the blood that circulates, yet keep us healthy and safe most of the time. Even more impressive is the fact that once they have encountered a pathogen, these clever cells don’t just go back into hiding when the threat has passed, they keep a few memory cells on watch just in case, so should you encounter the same disease again, you probably don’t have to go through it again – the white blood cells have got your back.
